Lesson 1 Summary

The tutoring session went okay with my tutee who, being a pragamatic learner, wanted to know the point of all this. We began by reading an article from Sports Illustrated since he is huge basketball fan.
As he read the article, I could see that he is a very good reader. His Schonell score was 10.5, which is pretty good for a kid entering ninth grade in the fall. Based on Burke, he does not enjoy reading. He also does not enjoy writing; so our tutoring sessions will focus on these challenges. I will make sure to have reading material that appeal to his interest in basketball and equip with tools to help him become a better writer.
